I then, as Paul—an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus

God called me to Above and Beyond when I was 15 yrs old

3. Best aspect of Above and Beyond?

1. To stand back and watch God’s grace by using me.
2. Witnessing God affect well over 1,000,000 people in my short lifetime.
3. The amazing people God called to minister beside me. (Proverbs 27: 17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.)

4. Favorite ministry experience?

1. Witnessing God change and transform my personal friends through Above and Beyond
2. Camp fire service at Living Waters Bible camp in 1998

5. How do you prepare yourself for a ministry?

I get really mad and yell at everybody for about 5 minutes then I’m ready to go. No, I’m just kidding. I like to hang out with God for 15-20 minutes and give the results of the ministry to him before they happen. I then take 10 minutes to mentally go over every run, jump, dunk, pass, and testimony in detail. I imagine every step I am going to take so that when my adrenaline gets going I don’t have to think about what I or the team is supposed to do. By doing this the correct format becomes instinct.

6. At least 3 people that have influenced you the most?

1. Dad
2. Mom
3. Grandpa dukes

7.  How & Why did you decide to give you life back to Christ?

I grew up in a Christian home and school surrounded by Christian friends, teachers, and relatives. I believed Jesus Christ wanted to save me and assumed that was enough. As a young man my insecurities were worn on my sleeve and seemed impossible to find freedom from. Consequently I played the role of the class clown that always needed attention so as to seem confident and ultimately hide my insecurity. Out of a desire to be accepted I prayed the sinner’s prayer a couple of times throughout childhood, but I did not have a relationship with Christ. I was living for myself and it was very evident in my actions away from my family and the church.
I believed in my heart I was going to heaven when I died because I believed in God. But Luke 4:41 says – 41”Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ.” Even the demons know and believe in the Son of God. What they, and I used to, lack is a communal relationship.
On my physical birthday, the 30 of July 1998, I decided to start a relationship with my creator and God by giving my life back to him. It was on that day as a 15 year old kid that I experienced my first real birthday – my spiritual birthday. The difference between the two birthdays was two fold:

1. The gift (s)
a. What I received
b. What I gave
c. How I reacted
2. The result

8. How have you grown since joining Above and Beyond?

My relationship with Christ has been in direct correlation with the Ministry God provided in Above and Beyond. This ministry has forced me to see God for who he is and not what I would have him be. And more importantly, I have started to learn to see myself the way God sees me instead of the way the world sees me.

I know that I have so far to go and so much more to learn to be the man that God wants me to be, but the biggest thing I have learned through this ministry is that the Lord didn’t plan for me to walk or learn alone. What joy it is to know that He doesn’t just want to do it with me…. He wants to do it through me.

9. What aspect of the Above and Beyond life still challenges you the most?

Consistency. Without a doubt consistency is by far the most challenging aspect of the Above and Beyond life for me. I have been learning that I can’t choose to live Above and Beyond when it’s easy or when I am excited about it, or when it best fits my schedule, or even when others are living Above and Beyond with me. I have to make the choice to allow the Lord to live Above and Beyond through me every moment of everyday.

10. Where do you see God calling you?

Wow, good question. He has definitely called me to be apart of the Above and Beyond ministry for the foreseeable future. I also know that He has called me to be a Godly son and brother. Outside of this I am not really sure what lies ahead. I know God will call me to impact lives and souls but I am not sure of the venue or format. Please pray that His call will be evident and that I will be obedient.

11. What is your vision for Above and Beyond’s future?
