7.  How & Why did you decide to give you life back to Christ?

It was just before the summer the year I turned 15. My mom and I were riding in the car and her and I were having a disagreement when the phone rang. Now before all this have to say my mom and her husband and some friends were planning a trip to Las Vegas right when summer started. So she was on the phone with my step dad at the time. When she hung up she said “ Guess who’s going to Las Vegas?” I said “ Who”? Then she replied “ Your Grandmother and you”. I didn’t want any part of this. When my mom, my step dad, my step sister and I went on family vacations before our parents made the trips miserable, so from the last trip we went on I made myself a promise that I would never go on a family vacation ever again. So long story short my mom and her husband decided that they were going to send me to stay with his parents in PA for a month while they went to Las Vegas. So when I got to Huntingdon PA Which is basically in the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania.

I sat in a log cabin and talked on the Internet and did nothing but be a useless waste of space. Well the wife that I was staying with approached me and told me about a camp that the teens from her church were going to for a week. When she told me I acted like maybe I would consider but in my head I was like “ church camp…me?.... yeah right. So a few days later the husband asked me if I wanted to go to the father’s day picnic the church was holding so that I could meet some people my age. All the couple wanted was for me to have some company they didn’t want me to have a bad time. S I agreed because boredom was taking over. Later when we got to the picnic I met a lot of the teens in the youth group and they fell in love with me and I with them.

When the picnic was coming to a close and I had made some new friends, they asked me to come to camp with them the following week. Well I had fallen in love with these people, because of the love they had shown me when they didn’t even know me. So I signed the papers and that was that. The next Monday afternoon we arrived at camp and it would go until Friday. Long story short again, I found myself having a blast with all these teens I was meeting. I saw how people acted. I saw people that were high on God rather then drugs. When Tuesday night came so many things had already happened to me in my heart I was feeling happy I loved my surroundings and these people. When curfew came I was talking to one of the girls in the youth group and she asked me if I was saved. Saved? I didn’t even know what that meant, but it sounded like it was something I needed to be so I said “ Yea I’m saved”.

Well this girl knew I was being untruthful, she didn’t say anything to me but I later found out she went to the pastor’s wife and a group of them prayed for me. Thursday night came around and it was the last night of camp and when the invitation was brought something in my heart told me to raise my timid arm and then stand up and walk into a beautiful thing. When I stood I saw my youth pastor’s wife crying and reaching out her hand she took me outside and explained everything to me and prayed with me. Ever since then Jesus has been dwelling in my heart and I am so glad I didn’t go to Las Vegas. I also don’t believe in coincidence I KNOW God made everything happen just the way it did. All Glory and Honor to God.

8. How have you grown since joining Above and Beyond?

I have grown spiritually because of the friends that I am surrounded with and the positively. Also in hanging out and being apart of this ministry I have learned where my priorities fall.

9. What aspect of the Above and Beyond life still challenges you the most?

I know God came so that we may have an abundant life and sometimes it’s a challenge to remember that and to know that God has given us everything sometimes I want to do it on my own.

10. Where do you see God calling you?

God is calling me to minister to youth and to be an encourager. In this will I would like to start a youth center and counsel students through that center. I also would love to do something like above and beyond putting on youth rallies all over for children and teens.

11. What is your vision for Above and Beyond’s future?

I have talked with Sean and I see Above and Beyond going to incredible heights. The visions of its leaders are amazing and I see God blessing the ministry all the time. I think this ministry will have tons of branches of different types of ministries to get involved in and I see the teams traveling to places unimaginable spreading the good news of Christ.
