Most inspiring moment on team?
We had a Bible study at 11:00 p.m. on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida the last day before we left to go home from a 10 day Florida tour in 2006. What started out as a Bible study turned out to be so much more. We went around speaking truth to one another and encouraging each other in love. It was amazing. |

How & Why did you decide to give you life back to Christ?
I grew up in a Catholic home and believed that my salvation depended upon the scales of good versus bad. My family was not extremely devout but Catholicism was the only thing I knew. I always thought that I had done more bad than good; therefore I was destined for hell. It was this belief that drove me to be indifferent towards the things of God. I never hit rock bottom so I never felt like God was my only option left.
Several different ministries like The Power Team and LIFT Student Ministries presented me with opportunities to meet God but I did not understand them. I even went as far as to pray the “sinner’s prayer” a couple of times, but it was driven by a fear of hell not by the intent to know God.
My older sister had accepted Christ and as a new Christian invited me to a church winter camp. I was a little hesitant but had nothing better to do, so I went. Once again I prayed the “sinner’s prayer” but did not understand it. It wasn't until about 3 months later that everything started to make sense. I was sitting in the car with my sister and confessed that I understood what salvation was and knew I was not saved. My sister, Ashley, lead me to Christ that night, February 21, 2001, in the parking lot of an Applebee’s. I finally understood everything this time. I realized the freedom that God had been offering me all along: freedom from my sin, freedom from my stuff, freedom from myself. |

What aspect of the Above and Beyond life still challenges you the most?
|
|
The lifestyle, on and off the court. It’s easy to live the Above and Beyond lifestyle during a practice or ministry. I am challenged most by living that lifestyle out side of the ministry format, my day to day life. |
